PHIL DYER
Phil Dyer
PHIL DYER began his martial arts training in 1978 at the age of five. He studied Shotokan Karate, Judo and western boxing through his teen years and immersed himself in wrestling and Nihon Jiu-jitsu through high school. In 1991 he moved to Boston and began his study of Eclectic Karate, which incorporated Thai style boxing, Sambo, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and Shoot fighting. Through the nineties he was able to put his training to use as a bouncer in some of Boston’s top clubs. He fought 16 NHB fights and won them all by submission. He also began training Law Enforcement officers in close quarters combat. Mr. Dyer personally trained Derrick Christmas at Centrex, which is Great Britain’s largest police training facility.
In 1997 the opportunity came to train under the expert tutelage of UFC champion, Royce Gracie. He quickly became engrossed in this new style of fighting and began to make this style the foundation of his teaching. Upon his return to Florida in 2000, he decided to take his passion for teaching back to the Law enforcement arena. He has been teaching S.W.A.T. and prison C.E.R.T. team members full time and has been one of the top paid trainers in U.S. He now lends his teaching skills to the public through his commitment to educating students through the program of W.R.A.P. Defense.
